Who We Are:
Melissa and I were married 30 years ago. Like many couples who had few
resources available to them at the time, we choose not to hire a wedding
photographer because of the perceived cost. Melissa’s brother-in-law had a nice
camera, as did her mother and my brother. We felt between the three of them we
would be set—oh, the folly’s of youth.
Wedding Photography is so much more than a high quality camera (digital or
film). It’s about the placement of family members or flowers. It’s about the
tilt of a head or light filtering through the stained glass windows of a church,
It's about being able to arrange large and small groups quickly and
professionally to make the most pleasing portraits. It's about the ability to
post-process the images in unique and interesting ways such as such as collages,
blends, and fades, and outputting as slideshows on DVD—ways we could not have
dreamed about in days of film. Which brings us to our philosophy.
We started this business in 1976, nine months after our own wedding. We got into
the field because we were so disappointed with our own wedding photos. We took
classes at the community college and then attended professional seminars on
family and wedding portraiture. We wanted to provide quality pictures that
didn’t require a second mortgage.
It’s important for you, our future clients, to understand that our pricing
structure has been deliberately formulated to help families get the most for
their money. We provide pricing that lets you decide what you want and don’t
want (however, we are happy to help you choose packages based on our experience
over the years). We carefully select assignments based on timing and locations.
When photographing a wedding, we only do one per day. We limit our weddings to a
few a month because there is a lot of work behind the scenes that needs to be
done in order to provide you with the quality you ought to expect from a
professional photographer (otherwise you could have asked your brother-in-law).
If you choose us as the photographers of your special day we are confident you
won’t be disappointed.
